The wine deep dark purple red in colour. It strongly expresses the aromas of ripe plums,blackcurrant, as well as sweet savory herbs, anise, lavender, and dark chocolate. On the palate it rolls with purple fruits, liquorice and violets are followed by pepper and spice, leading to a rich, long lasting and memorable finish.
This canonical shiraz from one of the oldest Australian winemaking family was sourced from Barossa vineyards where the vines range from young (approximately 10 - 12 years old) to old (greater than 35 years) and were intentionally set out in a various span of sites and soils, as for example red brown earths, sandy loams and dark clay soils. These alternatives and variations contribute to the great diversity of flavours of the wine, which is stabilized and ameliorated by ageing for 12 months within 26% new French, American and Hungarian hogsheads, barriques & octaves.
