Upon aeration, light notes of black peppers and powdered rose wines develop. The attack is direct, distinguished by flavors of blackberries, raspberries and woodiness. The body is full thanks to the finesse of the tannins. A harmonious and powerful wine, Camensac 2016 has a long finish that leaves an aftertaste full of red fruit.
Château de Camensac is a red wine produced in the Haut-Medoc appellation. The 5th Classified Growth is a 75 hectare vineyard with vines that are, on average, 35 years old. The soil is composed of thick Günzian Quatenary and fine Tertian-gravel. Aging occurs in French oak barrels. 2016 is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (50%) and Merlot (50%).
2016's vintage was highly affected by the weather. Winter was mild with heavy rainfall. Flowering took place after a slight sunny period. The summer was defined by its high temperatures and dryness, the water reserves were almost depleted. September brought long-awaited rain, which allowed the final phases of maturation to take place. Harvest occurred late under ideal weather conditions.
