Ruby red colour. Cherry and small red fruit appear immediately in the nose and in mouth. A very good balance between tannins, acidity and alcohol.
Also excellent, the 2013 Vacqueyras Tradition (70% Grenache, 20% Syrah and 10% Mourvèdre) comes from 30-year-old vines and sees no oak whatsoever, being brought up all in concrete tank. Giving up notions of black raspberries, Asian spice, violets and hints of wild herbs, it’s medium-bodied, nicely concentrated, has sweet tannin and a great finish. It’s an outstanding 2013 that will drink beautifully over the coming 7-8 years.
