This grand wine is made with Tinto Fino grapes from more than 20 year old vines, which grow on the winery’s estate that gives the wine its name. The chalky clay soils of the vineyards with unfragmented bedrock less than a metre below the surface and its altitude at around 900 metres (nearly 3,000 feet) define the wine special and unique characteristics. The harvest takes place during the coolest hours of the day, and is followed by a cold pre-fermentation maceration for two days in stainless steel tanks before carrying out the alcoholic fermentation for another 7 days at 22oC. Once the fermentations are finished, the wine is aged for six months in French and American oak barrels.
