As far as we inquired, it is neither 100% true nor completely nonsense. Let Warehouse shows you why.

HOW does it make people more ATTRACTIVE?

In a study cited on PsyBlog, University of Bristol psychologist Jana Van Den Abbeele and her colleagues asked 20 men and 20 women to rate the attractiveness of people in three photographs: (1) sober, (2) after drinking 250 milliliters of wine (or about a third of a bottle), and (3) after drinking 500 milliliters of wine (or about two-thirds of a bottle). And overwhelmingly, the photos of those who drank 250ml were found the most appealing.

What is the EXPLANATION?

Throughout the study, it has been concluded that alcohol, especially red wine, does have a 'positive pulling power', but only if the subject was 'not hammered'.

For MEN, it has been uncovered that the pheromones in Pinot Noir are very similar to those given off by men. To be more precise, red Pinot Noir beverage has small, earthy notes of spice, musk and oak which are very similar to the male sex pheromone, androstenone. According to Wine Magazine, men produce more androstenone than women do, and the grapes used to make pinot noir smell similar to this particular chemical. Therefore, it does help a man attracts his partner and let her secretly feel their hidden desire.

And for WOMEN, the change in attractiveness is presumably driven by changes in appearance. The aforementioned study's researchers attributed it to an increase of facial flushing (or slight redness in the skin), which is perceived as healthy and attractive. They also suggested that low doses of alcohol make women seem in a 'more positive or jolly mood', encourages them to 'relax' and give off ‘positive' signals, such as smiling - increasing their attractiveness levels.

As a suggestion to all of our reader, Red Pinot Noir wine from Georges Duboeuf is ranked as one of the best wine to your first try. This bottle is made from 100% Pinot Noir grape, therefore not only does it have eye-catching packaging with beautiful deep ruby color, but its flavor is also described as “full-bodied and hearty, with complexed soft tannin and a touch of fresh fruit aromas”, easy to enjoy with your partner.

Does it mean the MORE WINE you drink, the PRETTIER you are?

The answer is NO. As in the study we mentioned, the models who had drunk more than one glass -- 500 ml -- didn't bring in the same high rankings, at least not when compared to their sober photos.

Drinking a moderate amount (equivalent to two small glasses of wine) made people more attractive, whereas doubling that amount made them less attractive. It can eventually lead to 'changes in facial expressions which were excessive and unattractive' – which cause a decrease in 'pulling power'.
